Turkey is the worst tourist destination in the world, followed by Egypt and Bulgaria, according to a ranking of the law company Irwin Mitchell, dealing with legal acts against tourist agencies.
The ranking is based on the number of received new complaints last years. Continental Spain and Majorca island share the fourth place while the African island Cabo Verde is on the fifth place. The representative of Irwin Mitchell Clive Garter explains that some countries appear for the first time, some are dropping of the list of the five worst destinations.
“This is a cyclic phenomenon, which partly is due to the trends in the holiday travels, for example the sudden increase of the popularity of certain destination compared to previous years.
This could be a sign that the standards are decreasing and adequate actions are not taken for coping with this problem in the respective resort”, adds he. The lack of elementary hygiene in the hotels is the cause for increased number of illnesses, concludes Garner.
At the same time it became clear that the water at 6 of the Bulgarian beaches does not respond to the European standards. This states a report of the European commission for the quality of the bathing water in different water basins.
According to the report in Bulgaria 83 bathing beaches or 93.3% of all respond to the basic microbiologic and physicochemical standards.
The EC explained that this data is distributed by the committee for informing the citizens.
The closer of the 6 beaches is not necessary because the water cleanness requirements in EU are introduced gradually and they will have to be observed strictly only after 2015.
The term for the improvement of the condition of the waters in the gulfs of Varna and Burgas to be postponed to 2021 and not as the EU requires in 2015 – this suggest the Basin directorate in Varna. The condition of both gulfs is very bad, explain officials in the directorate.
The water management plan for the Black sea region should be adopted by the end of this year.
5 types of zones for water protection are set. A program of measures, which should be applied for the cleaning of the regions which are in poor conditions, has also been prepared.
