Today is the “Night of museums” which will start with many attractions, exhibitions, concerts and surprises.

In the fifth European museums night museums from 47 countries will open doors. The initiative comes from France and is under the patronage of the general secretary of the Council of Europe and UNESCO. 

“This year the night of the museums is without any specific topic considering that the word “night” itself is an indefinite topic, connecting the museums participants and the visitors”, said during the presentation of the initiative the director of the French cultural institute in Sofia Benedict Contamin.

At 6 pm start the performances in the National archaeological museum.

With knights tournaments at 8 pm will start the program of the National military – historical museum. There will be a special attraction – flight with a balloon if the weather is fine and if Sofia airport gives permit for the flight. The balloon is with a basket which can accommodate up to 10 people. It is not well known that the in the Bulgarian army during the First world war there have been two balloon departments implementing mainly investigative functions.

The French cultural institute will participate with a audio visual art live – projections on the façade of the Gallery for foreign art. Exhibitions of interactive art, pantomime, music and theater plays will be presented at the gallery.

The National art academy will present program Digital arts. Sofia city art gallery will also offer both exhibition and concerts.
