Data from the US Census bureau show that among the immigrants of European origin in USA the most highly educated are the Bulgarians, informs the site www.examiner.com, cited by BTA.

Among the immigrants of European origin in USA 92.6% of the Bulgarians have completed at least secondary education or have higher educational degree. They are followed by the Swiss (90.6%) and the Irish 90.4%. The Portuguese are at the bottom of the European ranking with 42.9%. Above them are the Italians (53.7%) and the Greeks (59.9%).

For comparison 61.8% of the total immigrant population in the USA has secondary or higher education. With the local US population this percent is around 70. 
In the research on this indicator only the residents of USA above the age of 24 are taken into consideration.
